Mrs. Standridge was the youngest child of Cornelia Sevier Harrison and her second husband, Jacob. Mrs. Harrison was the daughter of John and Mary Daniel Sevier. John Sevier was the namesake of his grandfather, the famed general whose brilliant strategy helped win the Battle of King's Mountain for the Patriots on October 7, 1780. Thomas Jefferson labeled the victory "the turning point of the American Revolution." In 1796, the general was elected first Governor of Tennessee.

Mrs. Standridge's paternal line was no less impressive. Her grandmother, Eleanor Shannon, and her parents, Owen and Margaret Montgomery Shannon, numbered as members of Steven Austin's Old 300.

Mrs. Standridge descended from other Patriots as well. Her ancestors included American Patriots: Thomas Shannon, Valentine Sevier, Henry Conway, and Thomas Daniel.

In 1876, Jennie Harrison married Artley Riddle. The couple had a son named Willie. Mr. Riddle died in 1878 and the young widow married Davis Wylie Standridge by whom she had several children.
