---------------------------------
Wren Leslie Pierce died peacefully at home on Sunday, July 1, 2012. Leslie was born in Oklahoma City on February 25, 1932. During the Depression his family moved to various towns in Texas and Oklahoma as his father found employment. Leslie thought of these various experiences as a positive influence on his life because he learned to make friends everywhere he went. Most of his younger years were spent in Dallas and he loved to recall his first jobs and interesting lifelong friends he made while living there. The family finally settled in Shawnee where Leslie graduated from Shawnee High school. He went to the University of Oklahoma where he was on the tennis team and became a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Leslie went into the Army during the Korean War and was fortunate to end up in Hawaii at the Joint Chiefs of Staff as an intelligence analyst. He returned to Oklahoma after the war and married Ann Williams of Muskogee and then returned to OU to finish his BBA. Leslie joined the First National Bank of Oklahoma City and remained in the financial field for the remainder of his life. The family lived in Chicago, Neenah, Wisconsin and then in Baton Rouge for six years. Leslie was head of the trust department at American Bank in Baton Rouge and moved to Tulsa in the 1970s to start the Trust Department at Utica National Bank. In later years he was senior vice president at the Trust Company of Oklahoma until his retirement. Leslie always enjoyed helping people and found trust work very satisfying because of the interesting and accomplished people he met. One of his most cherished honors was being awarded the Silver Beaver by the Boy Scouts of America. At the time of his passing, He was serving on the Indian Nations Council Scout Board and the Board of Blessings International. He previously served on the Oklahoma Housing Commission and was a dedicated worker and board member for Brush Creek Boys Ranch for many years. Leslie was also an Associate of Hillsdale College in Michigan. Leslie was devoted to his church and served at various times as an elder, as a deacon and as a Sunday school teacher. Leslie was an ardent patriot, and his love of country was infectious. One of his most outstanding qualities was being a resourceful helper and resource person for others. He always had plenty of ideas and provided help to anyone who asked. He was a devoted father to son and daughter and a loving grandfather to six grandchildren. Leslie and Ann were married for over 50 years in a loving and committed relationship. A Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012 at Redeemer Covenant Church.
