Rev. William "Bill" Ferguson, age 81, of Brownwood, died Sunday, Dec 15, 2002 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Visitation is scheduled for 6 to 8 pm Wednesday Dec. 18.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002 at the Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early, Texas.
Rev. Ferguson was born in Jacksboro, Tex. on Nov. 20, 1921. He married Alpha "Jean" Kirkpatrick April 10, 1951 in Revena, Tex. She preceded him in death on Sept. 22, 2002
Rev. Ferguson served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. He worked for 17 years for Ross Porta Plant in Early as a welder and was the pastor for the Evangelical Free Church in Melvin, Tex. He also volunteered as a minister for the Brownwood State School, and received an award for volunteer of the year there.
He had been a resident of Brownwood since 1963, moving there from Brady. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include five sons; Jack Martin of Lewisville, Tex.; Larry Martin of Spring, Tex.; Daniel Ferguson and his wife Chrystal of league City, Tex.; David Ferguson and his wife Cynthia of Blanket; and Phillip Ferguson and his wife Sharon of May. Six daughters also survive, including; Mary Mason of Minnesota; Elizabeth Watson and husband Roy, of Lometa; Ruth Thompson and husband, Coy of Blanket; Becky Dudley and husband Thomas of Blanket; Lydia Barron and husband Robert of Blanket; Deborah Andrews and husband Clayton of Blanket. Thirty grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Oma Jean Martin Ferguson; his second wife, Alpha "Jean" Ferguson; his parents Jess and Jesse Strange; and one brother, Floyd Ferguson.
