Elizabeth Lucille "Cindy" Davidson, 91 of St. Albans passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Teays Valley Assisted Living, Hurricane after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born December 19, 1920 in Paris, KY, Lucille was a daughter of the late Walter Thomas and Della Brown Buchanan Gibson.

Cindy was a Rosie the Riveter during WWII. She worked in an airplane assembly factory in Lancing, Mich., putting airplane wings together. After the war Cindy spent a year in Italy working for the Red Cross and exploring the culture. She served as food supervisor at the occupational 15th Air Force Base in Foggia Italy. She graduated from the University of Kentucky in Lexington which became one of her greatest passions "Go Cats!" She then served an assistantship in the political science department at UK from 1948-1949. She earned a masters degree in education and became an English teacher at St. Albans Junior High School. She was a faculty sponsor for the SAJH Honor Society and faculty advisor for their yearbook and newspaper. In 1977 Cindy married her loving and devoted husband, Coach Al Davidson. They shared a passion for educating young minds and encouraging students to reach their full potential in life.

Cindy was a past president of St. Albans Chapter of American Association of University Women and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of St. Albans. She joined the First Presbyterian Church, St. Albans on February 26, 1961. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women's organization and a member of Circle One, where she served as Bible leader. On July 5, 2009, she was presented with the Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership Award in recognition of her faithful service to the church and to Presbyterian Women. She also prepared communion elements for the 11:00 am worship service once a month until her health prohibited her from doing so. She was also instrumental in forming and coordinating the love committee to prepare meals for families in the congregation who suffered a death in the family.

She is survived by her husband, James Allen "Al" Davidson; daughter, Diann D. Williams of St. Albans;
sons and daughters-in-law, James Allen "Jim" II and Debra Davidson of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Jerry D. and Mary Davidson of New Providence, NJ;
five grandchildren, Lee (Tracy) Williams, Jennifer Beth (Pete) Guss, Brea Ann (Scott) Nelson, Keely Williams, Justin (Lisa) Davidson;
eight great grandchildren, Lucas, Tanner, Logan, Haley, Ashlee, Riley, Cooper and Sophie.

Funeral service at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Kanawha Terrace, St. Albans with Rev. Paul Romine officiating. Entombment in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
