OTTE, LELA GLADYS—Lela Gladys Otte, daughter of Jesse A. and Anna May Wilson, was born at Niota, Ill., July 18, 1896. At the age of eight, she moved with her family to a farm near Hoxie, Kas. In 1905 they moved to York, Neb.

In 1909, the family moved to Shickley. She graduated from Shickley high school with the class of 1914, after which she attended Peru State normal school and taught two years in rural schools.

On May 31, 1916, she was married to Lou C. Otte. This marriage continued for sixty years and on May 31 of this year they celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary with their family and friends. To this union was born one daughter, Roine, and two sons, Dale and Merlin. She departed this life on October 12, 1976, at the age of 80 years, two months and 24 days.

She was a member of Stanton Extension club since 1920. She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge, the VFW Auxiliary, the Hospital Auxiliary, and the United Methodist Women and served one year as county chairman of the extension council.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and one brother. She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted husband, Lou; one daughter, Mrs. Roine E. Poore, southwest City, Mo.; two sons, dale of Geneva and Merlin of Kansas City, Mo.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Eunice blue of Puyallup, Wash.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lela was a devoted wife and mother and was very active and took pride in her flowers and yard until her last day on earth. She will be truly missed by all who remain.

Funeral services were held at the First Congregational church in Geneva at 2 p.m., Friday, October 15, 1976, with Rev. W. W. Wilson officiating. Mrs. Willard Foster provided the organ music and a beautiful rendition of “Going’ Home.”

Pallbearers were Cecil Fox, Ben D. Fussell, William Gratopp, Delfs Gehrke, Dale Nunns and Everett L. Renken. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery, under the direction of Farmer & Son funeral home of Geneva.
