Simon was born in the Netherlands and died in Schenectady, New York. Engeltie also died in Schenectady, New York.
Simon married Engeltie Vrooman in 1654 in New Amsterdam, America. They had 8 children.

Apparently, Simon worked on a ship called "Prince Maurice", sailing between Amsterdam and New Amsterdam, New York. He was employed by the East India Company as a seaman.

He bought property in New Amsterdam in 1652 and settled there. He sold that property in 1654 for 30 beaver skins and bought property in Albany, NY. They stayed for many years in the Albany area.

In 1665 he purchased land in the Schenectady Patent with a farm on the great flat and a lot on State Street.

He was a soldier during the French and Indian War, and evidently was a baker and a farmer.
