He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth McKee of Mazomanie on the ninth day of January 1875, having been married sixty-two years. To this union were born five children: Raymond E. of Mazomanie, Mrs. Mabel A. Madsen of Minneapolis, Minn., Adam N. of Jim Falls, Wis., Guy L. of Mazomanie, and Mrs. Irene Denning, of Jim Falls, Wis., all of whom, with his wife, fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren survive.
Ervin Dunlap joined the Crescent Lodge No. 97, F. & A.M. of Mazomanie in 1877, being an honorary life member at the time of his death.
The early part of his life was spent in Mazomanie with the exception of six years spent in South Dakota. He moved to Jim Falls in 1918 where he resided until the time of his death, which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Denning, on January 22, at 7:30 a.m., after a brief illness of pneumonia.
The funeral was held Monday, January 25th, at 2:00 at the Methodist church in Jim Falls; the Rev. Goehring officiating. Floral tributes were many and beautiful. During the services, Mrs. Alma Maier, Albert Maier, and Walter Tyrell sang "Shall we Gather at the River", "The Old Rugged Cross", and "The City Foursquare." Pallbearers were six grandsons--Roland Dunlap, Gerald and Merle Denning, Wesley Maier, Delbert Karns, and Leonard Lange. Interment took place in the Copp Cemetery, Anson. Out of town relatives attending the funeral were: Raymond and Guy Dunlap of Mazomanie, Mrs. A. H. Madsen of Minneapolis, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Karns, James and Doris of Menomonie, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lange, and Bethel Mae of Gary, Indiana.
