MUNCIE--Roger D. Lewis, 61, of Muncie, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Kindred Health Care and Rehabilitation Center of Muncie.
Roger was born December 25, 1950 in Muncie, IN. He attended Southside High School and went on to work as a tool maker for 20 years at Ontario Systems. He then worked an additional 14 years in the sporting goods department at Muncie Wal-Mart.
He was an avid reader and history buff. He also enjoyed watching his favorite sports team, the Oakland Raiders.
Roger is survived by his mother, Patsy Lewis of Anderson; a sister, Nancy Smith (husband-Terry) of Anderson; four additional sisters in the Muncie area; several nieces and nephews, including Travis Smith and Timothy Smith; and three aunts, Annabelle Staggs, Jo Clevenger, and Faith Wheeler.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Buddy Lewis; two brothers, Robin "Rusty" Lewis and Rainbow "Bo" Lewis; and a nephew, Joseph Anderson.
A funeral service to celebrate Rogert's life will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie. Cremation will follow with burial of Roger's ashes in Elm Ridge Memorial Park at 11 a.m. on Friday. Friends and family may gather to share and remember two hours prior to services from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be given to A.R.F. at 1209 W. Riggin Road, Muncie, IN 47303.
