Ellen Jane was born in 1840, County Down, Ireland, to Mary McCann & Robert Lowry. She had six siblings: Andrew S., John M., David L., Mary A., Robert S., Henry(1857-1910) all born in Ireland.
She married Joseph Davidson in 1863. Ellen had four maternal McCann Uncles and 1 Aunt Jane McCann. Her parents immigrated in 1864 to the USA.
She had her first born in Ireland then she had the next four children born in Rock Co.,WI. with last child born in South Dakota: Jennie D. in 1863 followed by Alice, May Ella, Cery Blanche., Robert Lowrey., & Nellie Winifred.
By 1887 the family had moved to Alexandria, So. Dak. with their youngest Nellie born(2/1887).
Ellen Jane and Joseph were blessed with 14 known grandchildren.
Several of her family members were farmers, teachers, hardware dealer(stores/in wholesale)grocery business in Alexandria/Sioux Falls/Beulah/Hayti Town cities.
Her mother relocated after her father passed in Janesville, WI. and came to live in Alexandria with her younger sibling Mary A.(McMaster).
The majority of family members all died in Alexandria area, So Dak. She passed away in Alexandria, Hanson Co., in 1916, 14 years after husband Joseph and they were then joined eternally. She was preceded in death by several Blackman grandchildren, her brothers, and a nephew Howard Allen& niece Mary Lowry Mcmaster.
