Barbara Audrey (Anderson) Bartel was born on August 11, 1934 to Alton and Uneta (Rupp) Anderson in Bruno, Minnesota.
She grew up in many places in her childhood until her family finally settled in the rural area west of Sandstone near Lake Eleven and Lake Five in Kroschel Township.
In the spring of 1951 she met the love of her life, Glenn Bartel. They were united in marriage on July 18, 1952 and to this union five children were born. Three survive and two are deceased.
Barbara died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, Minnesota at the age of 77 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, two infant sons, an infant granddaughter, her parents, other relatives and many friends.
She is survived by her children, two sons, Allen and his wife, Rhonda, James and fiancée, Angela, daughter Roberta Rosenquist and fiancée Clarence Barnes; her grandchildren, Daneen, Karen, Helen, James Jr., Erik, Kristian, Amber, Robert and Glen; eleven great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service for Barbara Bartel will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Methven Funeral Home in Sandstone with Pastor Matthew Moris officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening, June 29, 2012 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Inurnment at Trinity Scandinavian Evagelical Cemetery in Kroschel Township, MN. Honorary Casketbearers are Daneen Eiffler, Karen Small, Helen Hallstrom, James Bartel, Jr., Erik Rosenquist, Kristian Bartel, Amber Barnes, Robert Bartel and Glen Bartel.
