Elizabeth Heimann Chilton Times May 10, 1924
The death of Mrs. Constant Heimann at her home in Charlestown on Friday, may 2nd, removed from the community one of the pioneer settlers of this section. Some four years ago Mrs. Heimann suffered from pneumonia since which time she had been in poor health.
Elizabeth Heimann, nee Schnell, was born in Hessen, Darmstadt, Germany, May 1, 1849. In the spring of 1854 she immigrated to America with her parents, who came direct to Wisconsin and settled in the woods in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County. She experienced the hardships and privations of the early pioneers and remained at home until her marriage to Constant Heimann in St. Mary's church at Marytown on July 23, 1867. The couple began married life on the Heimann farm in the town of Charlestown where they prospered and reared a large family, fifteen children blessed their union, nine of whom survive her and honor the memory of a good mother.
In the neighborhood in which Mrs. Heimann lived for over half a century she was beloved and respected by young and old. Her Christian virtues were many and her charity and neighborly services were well known by all. No one in need called on her in vain and she could always be found in the homes visited by sickness or sorrow doing what she could to assist and comfort. She was a devout member of St. Martin's church since its establishment and in her younger days was one of the leading spirits in its religious activities.
The funeral was held on Monday morning from St. Martin's church, her son, Rev. Fr. F. C. Heimann of Marinette, officiating at a Solemn Requiem Mass, Rev. Fr. Tulley, also of Marinette, assisting as deacon and Rev. A. Pritzl of this city as subdeacon. Rev. Fentan Holzknecht of St. Nazianz was master of ceremonies. Other priests in the sanctuary were Very Reverend Sturmius Haertl, S.D.S., Rev. J. C. Scheidhauer, Rev. Theo. Kersten. Burial was in the family lot in St. Martin's cemetery.
The deceased is survived by her aged husband, and the following children; Mrs. Fred Woelfel, Joseph Heimann, Mrs. Peter Loehnartz, Henry Heimann, Mrs. John Seipel, Mrs. Conrad Woelfel, William Heimann, George Heimann, Rev. Francis C. Heimann. She also leaves forty-eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
