Bonnie Lou Ludwig passed away at the age of 82 years old. She was born to Lloyd and Vita Rawson.

She grew up in Montello, Nevada and graduated from Montello High School. In the year 1950 she married her high school sweet heart Pete Ludwig and they resided in Montello until 1977 when the moved to Elko Nevada. Bonnie continued to live in Elko until their divorce in 1990. She has resided in Phoenix with her son Lawrence these last 5 years.

Many people may not know Bonnie was the driving force behind establishing a library in Montello in the 60s. She initiated a reading program by convincing Elko County School District to provide a book mobile for the students of Montello School. The bookmobile was a huge success but funding to continue the bookmobile staying in Montello became less and less. Bonnie knew that reading was an important part of her children's education and wanted to make sure books would be available to the community. She took it upon herself to figure out a way to continue to have some type of Library. She met with the City Council of Montello and worked out an agreement where in as she could use the one room opposite the cell, inside of the "Jail House" for her Library. This Jail house room was only used for hearings and a voting place. She cleaned and painted the walls and floors and had Pete build shelves for the books. She convinced the Montello School to donate tables and chairs. She brought in flowers from her mother's garden, reframed old pictures and posters to brighten up the room. Last but not least she went to Elko Library and volunteered her time in exchange for a donation of books. She was the Librarian of the quaint Montello Library for years. It was a meeting place for all. Children came once a week to have Bonnie read to them. Friends and family shared this space with her. Her four children were so proud of their Mom the Librarian.

She had four children and two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
