Elizabeth DuBose Porcher Mahoney, 93, artist and musician, died Saturday, October 6, 2001, at a hospital in Charleston. Born April 30, 1908, in Porcher's Bluff, S.C., she was the youngest child of Philip Gendron Porcher and Mary Frances Porcher (nee Cords). She attended the College of Charleston and was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation she taught in the Aiken and Columbia school system. She became the Curator of Education at the Charleston Museum. During WWII, she was a volunteer with the American Red Cross and other war efforts. She married her husband, J.J. Mahoney, in 1949, and together they created a successful automatic vending machine business operating in several states. Her husband J.J., many nieces and nephews survive her. A Requiem Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (today) at Stella Maris Catholic Church, Sullivan's Island. Interment will follow at Christ Episcopal Church Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.

A reception will be held at the family's home following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mother Teresa's Order, 335 East 145th Street, Bronx, NY 10451.
