Born on the White Ranch near Del Rio Texas, March 9th, 1917 Attended school in Roswell NM. At 15 he traveled to golden California and the lettuce of Imperial Valley.

Hitch hiking north to Watsonville a local Car Salesman, Wm. P. Cathey picked him up and said 'go to Salinas - that's the place' and for the next 50 years it was his home. Driving Trucks, and the famous silver tractors, shed foreman at Spiegl, and Peter A Stolich and field foreman for many years at Salinas Marketing Co-op where his reputation as a fair and even boss was known to all. Jack Armstrong of Marketing Coop noted 'that he obtained maximum production from his crews'. A member of the Merchant Marine during WW2 he witness numerous sub attacks and was on ships participating in Invasion of North Africa, Europe, and battle areas in the Pacific.

A Private Pilot and airplane owner he enjoyed flying as a way to visit Oregon, Arkansas and Idaho and his three daughters Altena Svendsen, Ival Grazzini and Regena Mason and their families. His Wife, Allie resides at the family home in Wellton, Arizona.

A Member of the Salinas Owners and Pilots Association, Teamsters Union 890, Elks Lodge 614. and Masonic lodge 209.

Masonic services will be held at Johnson Funeral home in Yuma and burial wil be in Wellton Arizona. Published in The Monterey Herald on February 25, 2004
