Wellsheim, 68, of RD3, Box 152,
Little Falls (Newville), passed
away March 13 in Little Falls
Hospital, where she had been a
patient since March 12.
She was born Oct. 14, 1919, in
Utica, daughter of the late
William F. Dowling, former
Supreme Court Judge in Utica,
and Margaret Ober Dowling. She
graduated from New Hartford
High School In the class of 1937
and graduated from Sweet Briar
College, Virginia, in the class of
1941. Her ma r r i age to Alfred
Henry von Wellsheim Sr., was
performed in St. John's Church,
Utica, on Dec. 26, 1942. The
couple has resided in Newville
since 1954..She was a member of
St. Mary's Church and the Altar
Rosary Society of that church,
Little Falls. She was a member
on the board of trustees of the
Little Falls Hospital. She was
formerly secretary-treasurer of
Canajoharie Manufacturing Co.,
Inc., Winter Green Industries,
Inc., and Canajoharie Retail
Outlet, Inc., all of Canajoharie.
She is survived by her
husband; four sons, Alfred
Henry von Wellsheim^--Jc.
Detroit, Mich., Ma r k ^M., of
Canajoharie, Richard J., of
Hana, and Matthew McCall von
Wellsheim, of Arlington, Texas;
six daughters, Ingrid M.
Cantarella, of Paoli, Pa.,
Margaret Petty, of Burleson,
Texas, Patricia Rhodes, of
Kathmandu, Nepal, Ellen M. von
Wellsheim, of Schenectady,
Augusta L., of Eliot, Maine, and
Elizabeth P. von Wellsheim, of
Eugene, Oregon; two brothers,
William F. Dowling J r ., of
Annapolis, Md., and J ames S.
Dowling, of Utica; three sisters,
Mildred Lockwood, of
Deansboro, Mary Elizabeth
Johnson, of San Antonio, Texas,
and Barbara Heintz, of Clinton;
13 grandchildren; several nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday from St. Joseph's
Church, Little Falls, at 10:30
a.m., where a mass of Christian
burial will be celebrated by the
Rev. J. Thomas Connery, pastor
of St. Mary's Church. Interment
will take place in the family plot
in the spring in Haupt Cemetery,
Newville, Town of Danube.
Friends were invited to pay their
respects at The Chapman-Moser
Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann
St., Little Falls, today
(Wednesday) from 2-4 and this
evening, 7-9, and attend the
funeral mass Thursday morning.
St. Mary's Altar Rosary Society
will call in a body at the funeral
home Wednesday evening at 7:30.
A prayer service will be held at
the funeral home Wednesday
evening. It is the wish of the
family that contributions be
considered for the Little Falls
Hospital Development Fund in
her memory. Envelopes will be
available at the funeral home for
this purpose.
