Cedric Carl Theodore Moege, 91, Topeka, died July 29, 2005, at a Topeka hospice. He was born Jan. 28, 1914, in Topeka, the son of Herman and Freida Nieman Moege. He was a lifelong resident of the Topeka area. Mr. Moege lived on the family farm near Rossville with his parents before they moved to Topeka to open a grocery business. They ran the IGA Store on 22nd and Buchanan Street. After the death of his father, he, his mother and his sister ran the grocery store. His wife joined in the business after their marriage. He later worked at Sunflower Ordinance Works from 1943 until after World War II. The family ran a variety store at the grocery store location from 1951 to 1955. He sold Chevrolet cars for Scott-Puffer Chevrolet for a short time before selling investments with Investors Diversified Services. In 1957, he began working for Aid Association for Lutherans (now Thrivent) where he remained until he retired. He became politically active after his retirement. He was a member of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and attended Hope and St. John's Lutheran churches. He was active in the Lutheran Layman's League and the Lutheran School Foundation. He was a 55-year member of Shawnee Country Club. He also was a member of the Life Underwriters Association and received many awards, including Man of the Year. He married Wilma Virginia Lane on June 20, 1937. She died May 20, 2005. He also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nancy Moege Zeller. Survivors include a son, Lee Moege and wife Sally, Holton; two daughters, Alicia Donnelly and husband Patrick, Topeka, and Virginia Ginger Chang and husband Ruu, Wakarusa; a sister, Berlene D. Stolte, Big Timber, Mont.; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kevin, Jesse, Logan, Andrew, Teresa and Darcy; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 3 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. He will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after noon Aug. 2 and one hour before services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home or directly to St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 S.W. Fillmore, Topeka, KS 66606; Topeka Lutheran School, Seventh and Roosevelt, Topeka, KS 66606; or Midland Hospice, 200 S.W. Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
