Bruce McClure, 53, of Bismarck, formerly of Minot, died June 26, 2012 in his home. Memorial service will be held at McCabe United Methodist Church, Bismarck, at 11:30am on Monday, July 2, 2012. Burial will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery at 2pm. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service.

Bruce was born September 4, 1958, in Bismarck, ND to Neyl and Helen (Wilson) McClure. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1976 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served honorably for seven years. His military occupational specialty was Radio Operator, which included many deployments worldwide (Germany, Tokyo, Okinawa). In his second enlistment, he qualified for a lateral move into the Computer Science field, working on computers for USMC Headquarters. Duty stations included Camp Lejeune, NC, Okinawa, Japan, Washington, DC and Quantico, VA. He met his former wife, Chris, while they were both serving in the Marines. They were married in Norfolk, Virginia in 1985. To this union, four children were born.

Bruce loved his children and was proud of their successes. Johnathan has trained as an Electrical Engineer. Aileen is studying medicine and plans to become a Pediatrician. Andrew is working toward a degree in Computer Science. Elizabeth is completing coursework for a Bachelor's degree in History Education.

Bruce held several diverse positions as the family moved to follow Chris' military career: Pinkerton Security Guard, fry cook at Roy Rogers, university student, bricklayer, Computer Programmer, interim teacher, UPS deliveryman, and sous chef. He was very proud of supporting Coastal Carolina Community College as the Lighting Engineer and Stage Manager for its production of "Pippin," during the late 1980s.

After returning to Bismarck, Bruce attended the University of Mary, earning dual degrees in Social and Behavioral Science, and Computer Information Systems (CIS). With his vast expertise in the CIS and programming fields, classmates often turned to Bruce for assistance with their projects. The CIS department recognized and encouraged his great leadership skills.

Bruce had a fascination with science, space exploration, and feudal sociology. He enjoyed computer and tabletop games, classic films from the studio era, Japanese culture, and English literature. He was a fan of the Blues Brothers and Meat Loaf. His family fondly remembers his wealth of knowledge because he was a trivia buff, always enjoying Trivial Pursuit and Jeopardy.

Bruce was a lifetime member of both the American Legion and the AmVets organizations.

Bruce is survived by his children: Johnathan McClure of Grand Forks, Aileen (Nate) Aldrich of West Fargo, Andrew McClure and Elizabeth (Aaron) Krebsbach, both of Minot; his sisters: Aletha McClure and Meredith (Joe) Gross; his parents, all of Bismarck; and many other loving friends and family.
