Mrs. Jacob (Vernice) Steiner, 75, a longtime resident of the Johnson area, died Sunday at Holy Family Hospital, Spokane, following surgery.
She came to the Johnson area with her family about 1900 and married Jacob Steiner in 1910. They made their home at Johnson. He died in 1959.
Mrs. Steiner was a member of Church of Christ, Pullman, Johnson Grange, Johnson Booster Club and Colton American Legion Auxiliary.
She was born June 29, 1893, at Washington Court House, Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marine.
Surviving are five sons, Perry and Rex at Johnson, Roy, Hampton, Va., Jacob Jr., Spokane, and Forrest, Phoenix, Ariz.; three daughters, Mrs. Marion (Florence) Hatley, Clarkston, Mrs. Glenn (Irene) Simpson, Pullman, and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Reilly, St. Louis Mo.; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Kimball's Funeral Home, Pullman. Burial will follow at Pullman Cemetery.
