She then entered the University of Montana, Missoula, where she was active in her sorority. Lorene accepted a secretarial position at Boetcher-Newton Stock Exchange in Denver. There she met her future husband, Jack Mowbray. They were married December 12, 1935 in Roundup and returned to Denver where Jack became a partner in the investment firm, Boetcher Company.

In 1964, she was commemorated for her work as chairman of the building committee of the Jefferson County Chapter of the American Red Cross. Lorene and Jack built a home in Wheatridge, Colorado and traveled extensively in the United States and abroad. Lorene developed a hobby of knitting and crocheting and always had some items on hand as gifts on special occasions. She became an avid and accomplished bridge player.

Lorene and Jack moved to Del Mesa Carmel in 1975. She did volunteer work at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for approximately 20 years. Lorene and Jack were members of the Monterey Peninsula Country Club and they worshiped at Carmel Basilica and other Catholic Churches of the Diocese of Monterey.
