Martz died Friday at Rose Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Born Oct. 15, 1889, in Kansas City, Kan., Martz moved as a child with his family to Byers, Colo. He came to Denver in the summer of 1923.
Martz married Margaret Venstra in Golden, Colo., Sept 28, 1914.
He was graduated in 1925 from Colorado State College in Greeley, Colo. He then attended the University of Denver, where he received his masters degree in education.
Martz was employed by the Denver Public Schools as assistant principal at North High School from 1929 to 1947; and as principal at Fairmount Elementary School from 1947 until 1954, when he retired.
He was a member of the Denver Lions Club; the Colorado and Denver chapters of the Schoolmasters Guild; Phi Kappa Delta, educational fraternity, and St. John's Episcopal Cathedral.
Surviving, in addition to his widow, are a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Watts, Fairfax City, Va.; a son George, Canton, Ga.; a sister, Mrs. Rachel Miller, of Denver; a brother, Roy S., Gresham, Ore., and nine grandchildren.
