James W. Mong, 65, well known farmer and oil producer of near Shippenville, died suddenly at 11:45 a. m. Monday, Oct. 24, 1932, at his home in Elk township.
Mr. Mong was caretaker of state highway routes in the Clarion area for many years and was considered by officials to be one of the best maintenance men in the state. He went to work Monday morning but went home ill at 9:30. His illness developed into a heart attack and he died about two hours later.
He was born and raised in Forest county and was a son of Sarah and Joseph Mong of Tionesta township. He moved to Clarion county about 25 years ago. In 1896 he was united in marriage with Mollie Lieberum of Venus.
Surviving are his wife and the following children: Mrs. Roy Allison, of Limestone; Ralph of Bradford; Warren at home; Colonel of Elk township; and John of Warren. The following sisters and brothers also survive: Mrs. c. W. Carbaugh, Newmansville; Mrs. G. E. Burhen, German Hill, Forest county; Mrs. W. T. McKissick, Fryburg; L.W. Mong, Seneca, and P. C. Mong, Clarion, former Forest county sheriff and now Clarion county game protector.
Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the Shippenville M. E. church with the pastor, Rev. Kenneth Liniger, officiating. Burial took place in the Lutheran cemetery at Shippenville.
