from REHWOLDT family history records...
"Hermann Rehwoldt, from Lubeck, Germany, sailed from Berlin in about 1864 with his wife Elizabeth (Becker) Rehwoldt. They came down the St. Lawrence River into Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Rev. Hermann Rehwoldt, representing the Berlin Mission, ministered to Lutherans in that vicinity and later started Lutheran church in Iowa, Wisconsin and in Nebraska. His wife Elizabeth died near Leland, Honey Creek, Sauk, Wisconsin, four months after the birth of their last child, their only son Siegmund Rehwoldt. His four daughters were Clara (Rehwoldt) Haver (1865-1897; Emma (Rehwoldt) Wehe (1867-1921;Anna Madgeline (Rehwoldt) Eitzmann (1869-1908); Theresa Rehwoldt (1871-1896) and son Siegmund Andrew Theodore Rehwoldt (1874-1948)
The Rev. Rehwoldt put his daughters in an orphanage and a parishioner family cared for the baby son while he returned to Germany to find a new wife. He and Minna (Ausborn) Rehwoldt sailed from Germany on Aug 29, 1876 to return to the U.S.A.
He brought his family together and lived in Nebraska until his death. His wife Minna lived the rest of her life with Siegmund and his family until her death in 1925 and is buried in Mountain View Cemetery, Longmont, Colorado." by Elizabeth (Wehe) Price.. FAG #47512581
