Glenn E. Martin, 88, of Warsaw, Ill., died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

Born Oct. 2, 1923, in Warsaw, he was the son of David and Viola Kimberley Martin. On June 18, 1950, he married Ida K. Knoche in Warsaw.

Mr. Martin was part owner of Bryant and Martin Plumbing and Heating and a plumber/pipe fitter. He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1941.

He served from 1943 to 1945 in the Seabees during World War II in the Asia-Pacific Campaign Bar in the South Pacific. He recently went on an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Warsaw.

He was a member of VFW Post and Ralph Parker American Legion Post, both in Warsaw, a member of Local 212, Cedar Rapids, and a 50-plus-year 32nd-degree member of Blackhawk Masonic Lodge 238.

He volunteered as a Little League coach and manager and enjoyed collecting model trains and sharing them with others.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shelley Tardif of Baltimore and Sherri Kelley of Lake In The Hills, Ill.; two sons, Craig Martin of Antioch, Ill., and Gregory Martin of Sacramento, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Burial with military rites will be in Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw.
