Thomas E. McCarthy Sr., a resident of this city, died Friday Aug 24, 2001 at Morton Hospital and Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 84. He was the husband of Josephine L. Milka. Born in Fall River, Mr. McCarthy lived in North Dighton and Taunton most of his life. He was a graduate of Bristol County Agricultural High School. He retired from Harodite Finishing Company in 1979 and before that worked at the former Mt. Hope Finishing Company in North Dighton.. Mr. McCarthy was a former member of the Taunton Lodge of Elks 150 and was a fan of sports, particularly football and baseball. He attended St. Joseph's Church. He was a son of the late Thomas H. and Mary (Owen) McCarthy. He is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Medeiros of Taunton; a son, Thomas E. McCarthy Jr. of Berkley; a brother, Christopher McCarthy of Lakeville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
