Amelia Knickerbocker, the daughter of Harry and Louisa Brigham Knickerbocker. Amelia was born in Eaton, NY. She was about 13 when the family moved to Cincinnatus, NY.
Amelia married William Holroyd, pastor of the Cincinnatus Baptist Church. William had immigrated from Wainsgate, England, around 1830. William and Amelia moved to Wyanet, Illinois, in about 1852.
We know the birth dates of their first 6 children because the eldest sewed a wall hanging in 1850, listing birth dates for Amelia A. (b. Jan 26, 1839), Sarah C. (Jul 17, 1840), Mary S.(Apr 1, 1842), Louisa S. (Mar 2, 1844), William H. (Jan 3, 1846), and Daniel A. (Oct 31, 1847). A seventh child, Zira Franklin, was born in June, 1855, after the wall hanging was finished.
This was one of three marriages between Knickerbockers and Holroyds. William's brother, Mark Holroyd II, married Amelia's cousin Cordelia, from Eaton NY. When Cordelia died, Mark married Susan Knickerbocker, Cordelia's sister. All three women were granddaughters of John Knickerbocker, who is buried in Cincinnatus. Mark I, Mark II, William, and Susan are all buried in Wyanet.
One of Amelia's descendants was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, basing membership on Amelia's grandfather Phineas Brigham, who served in the war.
