Gary Leonard Lively, 72, of Prairie City, died June 17 at Blue Mountain Hospital. A private service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Lively was born Sept. 5, 1939, in La Grande, to Leonard "Perk" and Mildred "Mick" (Bartmess) Lively. He graduated from Wallowa High School in 1957, and attended Eastern Oregon University for a year. He served for two years in the U.S. Army.

He worked as logger and truck driver, retiring in 2005.

On Dec. 11, 1960, he married Sharon Wright in Wallowa.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and spending time with his friends and family, especially all the grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon, of Prairie City; daughter Debbie (Joe) Bennett of John Day; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Lively.
