Myles J. Boyd, 83, died Friday evening at home after a long illness. He and his wife, the former Dorothy McNamara, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June. Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Myles and Nora Doyle Boyd and was a graduate of Holy Rosary High School.Before retirement, he was employed by PennDOT as an inspector of highways. He was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Church. Myles was a proud veteran of World War II, where he served in the Coast Guard aboard the USS Menges. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Also surviving are a daughter, Ellen Boyd Fueshko; two sons, Myles J. Boyd Jr. "Augie," and wife, Barbara; and John F. Boyd and wife, Jeanne, all of Scranton; a sister, Catherine Saltry, Scranton; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by seven sisters, Theresa Boyd, Anna Peuser, Margaret Burns, Mary Boyd, Agnes Marsh, Doris Keegan and Sister Myles Boyd, I.H.M., and two brothers, John and Joseph Boyd. The funeral will be Tuesday from the Edward Knight O'Donnell Funeral Home, 323 William St., with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church. Entombment, Cathedral Cemetery Mausoleum
