She first married George A. Spradlin the son of Solomon Spradlin and Mary "Polly" Prater.
After George died she married Thomas Risner the son of Elmore Smith Risner and Peggy Helton.

Back-For Aunt Martha. Martha Whitaker was born 5 months and 3 days after her father Johnson Whitaker died from his service in the Civil War.
In her early life she was the care giver of her mother Alsey Jane Fletcher Whitaker.
Her siblings were Rosencrans, Mary, George, William and Floyd Whitaker.
She lived her life in the service of Christ and her Lord. She was a member of the Ivyton Baptist Church all her life.
Martha never had children of her own. She raised a nephew of George Spradlin named Johnny Hackworth and loved many.
She gave much and asked little.
