Amos H. "Smitty" Smith, 83, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, at his home. Amos was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Terre Haute, the son of Murphy "Bud" and Emma (Kirby) Smith. He was retired from Polymar Plastics, loved to golf, and going to the Legion and telling old stories to anybody who would listen.

He was preceeded in death by his parents; his wife Janet (Herter) Smith; infant daughter Sharon; special stepson, James Lawton Rogers; beloved grandson, Ronald "Eric" Amos; stepgranddaughter, Erica Rogers; and brothers, Charles, Leroy an Cecil (Shad) Smith.

Smitty is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Smith; stepson, Rick (Maureen) Rogers; three grandchildren, Dustin Roberts, Travis Prince, and September Russell. Also surving are stepgrandchildren Starla, Laura and Kim Rogers; and six stepgreat-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Felicia, Eric, Asha, Destiny, Brooklyn, Bobby and Julie; and great-great-grandson Julian; a special uncle to several nieces and nephews; and a life-long friend Louie Nuss.
