Ruth Louise Loose, 86, of 2201 Erie Ave., Sheboygan died on February 5, 2006 at Meadow View Manor Nursing Home after a short illness. She was born in the Town of Rantoul July 4, 1919. A daughter of the late Henry Jr. and Nellie (Sorenson) Drier. She attended area schools and was a graduate of Chilton High School, class of 1937.
On February 11, 1945, she was united in marriage to Milton Loose at Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church in Potter, WI. The couple moved to Sheboygan after their marriage and Milton worked for area grocery stores. The eventually opening and operating Loose's Grocery which was located at 1332 s 9th St.
They retired from the grocery business in 1979. Ruth then worked at Progressive (formerly Heritage) Nursing Center as a housekeeper. Her husband preceded her in death on April 27, 1980.
After retiring Ruth was active in volunteer work for the Red Cross and the Foster Grandparent Program, serving Washington Elementary School from 1991 to present. The children there were a great joy in her life. Ruth was a long time member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where she had been active in the Women's Guild. She enjoyed reading, traveling, word search puzzles and family events
Ruth will always be remembered for her strong faith, love of people and her special students.
Survivors include three children, a son Gerald (Sara) Loose of Milwaukee; two daughters, Charlotte (Leon) Jump and Rev. Barbara Loose, all of Sheboygan.
Three grandchildren, Cathleen (Timothy) Livermore, Gary Jump and Rebecca (Ronald) Lohse Jr.; four great grandchildren, Tristan, Cade and Cami Livermore, Raenah Jump;and a step-great-grandson, Christopher Baine; a sister Lillian Boll of Chilton, many nieces and nephew, and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a brother Marcus Drier, and a sister Gertrude Ploeckelmann.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 2114 Wedemeyer St., Saturday, February 11 at 12 p.m. The Reverend Doctor Delbert Permann, Interim Pastor and The Reverend Barbara Loose will co-officiate. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for St. Paul's United Church of Christ and Washington Elementary School.
Her family would like to extend a deep thank you to Dr. Stephen Westcott, Dr. George Kutticat, Dr. Kevin Johnson and Dr. Rana Sokhi, the fourth floor nurses and staff at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and the staff at Meadow View Manor for all the care and compassion she received.
The staff of the Novak-Ramm-Ziegler Funeral Home is assisting the family.
