Born in Lake Placid on April 8, 1942, he was the son of Charles and Dorothy (Lincoln) Jones.
George worked in various capacities during his working career including D. Cohen and Sons, and at National Lead in Tahawus. He worked for a time for Dick Trudeau as a heavy equipment operator, as a meat cutter at Swift & Co, and later at A&P in Tupper Lake. He then went to work at ORDA in Lake Placid and for the village of Saranac Lake until he became disabled in 1997.He is survived by his wife: Beverly (Tuthill), whom he married on April 23, 1960; three daughters: Kimberlay Girouard and her husband Roger of Saranac Lake, Linda Allen of Rainbow Lake, and Michelle Wilson and her husband Don of Saranac Lake; two sisters: Barbara Johnson and Norma Klosek; three brothers: Raymond, Thomas and John Jones; four grandsons: Timothy Johnson, Derek Johnson, Donald Wilson III and Keaton Allen; one great-granddaughter Emmalee Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, mother and sister Bev.
George was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by everyone whose lives that he touched.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will take place at the convience of the family. Burial will take place at St. Bernards Cemetery in Saranac Lake.
