Wife of Jonas Seymour(1854-1933). Mother of Dorothy Seymour(1877-1900), and Ira Seymour(1882-1966). Mary Ann was a very kind woman with a talent for baking pies. Mary loved animals and named every one of the chickens on the farm. She also had a passion for singing. She was the second eldest child born to John and Christiana Segrist, Christiana died in 1867. John and Christiana had six children total. Afterwards John remarried Lucinda Bowman, and had four more children. John lived with Mary's brother Theodore Segrist after Lucinda Segrist died in 1891. John died in 1918. Mary Ann married Jonas Seymour in 1877. Their daughter Dorothy was born in 1877, son Ira in 1882. Dorothy died of a broken heart in 1900. In 1919 the Seymour family left Ohio and headed for California. They purchased the township of Balico. Due to problems finding ways to irigate the family lost everything. Mary Ann was the rock of her family. She died in 1932. The only person living that remembers her is her great-granddaughter Velura. Velura was five when Mary Ann died, but she still remembers her pies. A clock that hung in her Kitchen now resides at the home of her great-grandson Michael.
