Death took Mrs. Gladys Parsons at St. Mary's Hospital shortly after noon yesterday, after an 13 days' illness following an operation. Mrs. Parsons was for seven years with The Knoxville Journal circulation department. She was 36 years old. Her husband W.L. Parsons is connected with the Standard Glass Co. Before coming to Knoxville 12 years ago, Mrs. Parsons was teacher in Sevier County schools. She was a granddaughter of the late, Rev. Caleb Rule, in his day a leading Baptist minister of Sevier County. She was a niece of Dr. A.L. Rule of Knoxville. Mrs. Parsons was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to her husband she leaves her father, G. F. Rule, of Knoxville; brothers, the Rev. R.E. Rule, of Wildwood; Raymond Rule, of Boyd's Creek, and Ralph B. Rule, of Cookeville; sisters, Mrs. Preston Clark, Boyd's Creek, Mrs. Edgar Tarwater, of Sevierville, and Mrs. Fred Berry, of Knoxville. The body was to be removed to Berry's to the home of the father, 931 East Hill Avenue, at 4 p.m. today. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, the Rev. Frank W. Wood and the Rev. Charles B. Tarwater officiating. Burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:30 to 2 p.m.
