Death: Mar 22 1884 - Hegins, Schuylkill), son of Wm B Shadel and Lydia Troutman, married Maria Catherine "Polly" Geist in 1846 from Upper Mahanoy Twp. Together they had 14 children: Fietta (1847-1908 married Hoffman), Isaac (1848-1899), Emmaline (1852 -1920 married Samuel Paul), Washington (1852), Susannah (1854–1926), Abigail (1855-1915 married McWilliams), Mary (1856-1893), Joel (1858-1923) , Charles (1859-1863), Franklin (1860-1934) , Sarah (1862-1923 married John Gordner), Elias (1862-1934), Frederick A (1865–1914), Harrison Monroe (1866–1928). By the age of 33 Issac purchased a farm in Hegins Valley along the Deep Creek and not far from his 1st cousin William Schadel, postmaster of Hegins. Issac and Polly according to the 1880 census had nine children on the farm: Issac G., Abbie, Mary, Joel, Frank, Sarah, Elias, Fredrick and Harrison. By 22 Mar 1884 Issac had died leaving the farm to his son Joel until 1934. Polly died on 21 Dec 1898 and most likely was living on the farm. Elias was working as a coal miner until he took up full time farming around 1920 most likely helping Joel.
