Frances Hunter Perry Aaroe, 78, of Richmond, died on April 15, 2006. She was born in Durham, N.C., daughter of Sarah Othello McIntosh and David Russell Perry, M.D.

She received a B.S. from Wake Forest University in 1949 and an M.S. in organic chemistry from Duke University in 1951. After working for the CIA in Washington, D.C., and Lake Laboratories in Milwaukee, she came to Richmond in 1961 to work for A.H. Robins. Her primary responsibilities were in drug registration, she filed new drug applications and presented the material to the FDA. She retired from Robins in 1990.

Mrs. Aaroe was an avid golfer and held memberships in Hermitage Country Club and the Dominion Club. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixteen years, Alden Petersen Aaroe; and her brother, David Russell Perry II.

Survivors are her sister, Beth Perry Upchurch of Durham, and her husband, William, their children, Sarah Beth Owen, also of Durham, Kay Brooks of Granite Bay, Calif., and Perry Upchurch of Bangkok, Thailand; a sister-in-law, Nancy Roycroft Perry, her children, Debra Perry, Julie Perry, David Russell Perry III, all of Winston-Salem, and Cindy Wadell of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; and a stepdaughter, Anna Lou Aaroe Schaberg of Richmond, her husband, Robert, herstep- grandchildren, Karen Willett Leveritt of Little Rock, Ark., and Andrew Alden Willett of Asheville, N.C., and their families.
