Singer, Poet, Television Host, and Iranian Opposition Leader. Also known as Fereydoun Farrokhzad. After high school, he studied in Germany and Austria, receiving his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Munich. He began writing poetry and was first published in 1962. In 1964, his collection "Another Season" was published. He began working on television in Munch in 1966 and then returned to Iran in 1967 to start a television career there. He was best known there for his television show "Silver Carnation", which was responsible for introducing Iranians to many popular entertainment acts. He was jailed after the 1979 Iranian Revolution and after his release went into exile in Germany. There he was a harsh critic of the Revolution and the Iranian regime, in particular of Khomeini, and hosted a weekly opposition radio show. He was murdered by stabbing and decapitation in his apartment in Bonn, many believe at the behest of the Iranian government, though the murder has never been solved. His right of burial in his original grave expired in 2007, and he was moved to a new grave in the same cemetery by a group Iranian exiles in Germany.
