Luther was born March 7, 1919 in Tarkington Prairie, Liberty County, Texas and passed away January 2, 2009 in Tomball, Harris County, Texas at the age of 89 years, 8 months,25 days.

Luther grew up on the Prairie with his twin sister Louise Vera Havard Bazzoon . He understood the many difficulties and challenges of farming, raising cattle, and farm life.

Luther and his first wife, Ruby, lived in Highlands, Texas and later in Baytown, Texas. During Ruby's illness, they moved to Tomball to be near their daughter. Luther attended First Baptist Church in Tomball and Carrell Street Baptist Church in Tomball. He was former member of the First Baptist Church in Highlands, Texas and Cedar Bayou Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas.

He was president of AARP in Baytown, Texas in 1982. Luther enjoyed being a member of the Hometown Kitchen Band in Tomball, Texas and the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) in Tomball. After thirty-one years with Humble Oil Refinery (Now Exxon-Mobil) in Baytown, Texas, Luther retired. He and Ruby enjoyed their retirement years, their church, family, and friends.

After Ruby's death, Luther married Lucy Mae Moore. After Lucy's death, he married Imogene Harcrow.
