Excerpt -- A heart attack caused the untimely death of Charles A. Guthrie, 60, on Sunday morning at his home in Friendsville, Md., after an illness of two hours. Guthrie was a retired merchant, having operated a general store at Cranesville for several years. He was a son of Mrs. Hannah Guthrie and the late Rev. Joseph Guthrie and was born and reared in Preston County. He was twice married, his first wife being Emma Spiker. Two children were born to this union, Harry of Ohio, and Mrs. grace Frazee of Glade Farms. His last wife was Miss. Flossie Spoerlein, who survives him with two children, Wayne and Miss. Eulah, at home. Two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. David VanSickle of Hazelton, Samuel F. Guthrie of Morgantown and Mrs. Oren VanSickle, and Mr. Frank Guthrie of Terra Alta, also survive. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 o'clock at the Friendsville M. E. Church and interment was in the Williett Cemetery at Shady Grove.
