LEWISTOWN - Jill E. Richard, 62, of 1700 U.S. Highway 522 N., Lewistown, died at 10:28 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at the Lewistown Hospital.
Born March 15, 1950, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Jack E. and Betty L. (Erdley) Crissman.
She is survived by: her husband, Michael S. Richard, whom she married on March 1, 1974; her sister, Ann Walters and husband, Rodney, of Walworth, N.Y.; her aunt, Patricia Birsch, of West Chester; two nieces, Lisa Deschenes, of Franklin, Mass., and Tracy Beach, of Denver, N.C.; and three cousins in the Philadelphia area and her only female cousin, Jan Birsch, of West Chester, who was a great companion, supporter and friend.
Also surviving are two special "sisters," Dolly Houtz, of McVeytown, and Melva Walters, of Lewistown.
Jill was a 1968 graduate of Lewistown-Granville High School and attended the University of Pennsylvania for two years. She retired from surgical services at Lewistown Hospital in March 2011 after 20 years of service.
She was a member of the Key to Life Church of God where she enjoyed studying and preparing to teach the adult Sunday school class twice a month. She was also a memberof the Burnham YMCA.
Jill enjoyed challenging crossword puzzles and sudoku puzzles. She also enjoyed dogs, swimming at the YMCA and talking with people.
There will be no public viewing; however, her family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the Heller- Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at Juniata Memorial Park.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Key to Life Church of God, 110 Logan St., Lewistown, with Pastor Glenn A. Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jill's memory can be made to the Key to Life Church of God, 110 Logan St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
