Old Resident of the City Passed Away Sunday Evening
Funeral Will Be Held Wednesday Afternoon with Burial in Ripley Cemetery
Mrs. Elizabeth Pietzsch, widow of Herman Peitzsch passed away at her home on the Wapello road, near the Hawkeye school house, at 7:30 o'clock Sunday evening. She had been ill long and had borne her suffering with patience and fortitude. Elizabeth Dewein was born in Burlington, Dec. 24, 1849, and all her days were spent in or near the city of her birth. She was a member of the First German Evangelical church and had a host of friends in this city and county who will hold her in kindly remembrance. Since the death of her husband, she has been making her home with her sons, John and Louis, who keep busy on the place that has been the family home for so many years. Mrs. Pietzsch is survived by the following children: Mrs. Edward Reid, Mrs. Fred Schmidt, the Misses Katy, Emma, Martha, Lucy and Louis and John Peitzsch. There are fourteen grandchildren surviving. Deceased is also mourned by three sisters, Mrs. Henry Hermann and Mrs. John Blaul of this city, and Mrs. Herman Bonitz of Hampton, N.J., and two brothers, Louis Dewein of Burlington, and George Dewein of Marshalltown.
The funeral will take place from the family home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, with interment in Ripley cemetery. Friends are invited to these services.
Children: Albert, Robert, Laura, Lewis/Louis, Rosa, Catherine "Katy", Emma, John, Martha and Louisa.
