H. J. "Jim" Draeger, 76, Oconto, died Sunday July 8, 2001 at his home. Jim was born February 16, 1925 in Oconto to the late William and Inez (Toole) Draeger. He married Margaret Eckes in February of 1948. She preceded him in death on October 2, 1990. Jim sold insurance for Metropolitan for a number of years. During the same years he also managed the Oconto Milling Co. until his retirement. Jim golfed and bowled most of his life. Jim served in US Marines from 1946 to 1948. Jim was a member of the American Legion, Oconto Golf Club, and Oconto Bowling Association.

Jim is survived by four daughters Christine (Michael) Hoppe, Oconto; Sandra Larsen, Green Bay; Linda Draeger, Madison; Patricia Marcus, Chicago, IL; one son, Peter Draeger, Kansas City, MO; one brother, Melvin "Chopper" (Rosemary) Draeger, Oconto; eleven grandchildren Eric, Sara, Megan, Amy, Michele, Andrew, Amanda, Aaron, Benjamin, Henry, Casey, and three great-grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Melody Fulton, and one great granddaughter.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday July 12. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Beck officiating and burial at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
