Caroline was a daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm Schilling (1839-1905) and Maria Katharina Kuhl (1837-1908). She was born in the village of Neustadt, Normanby Twp; in the year 1862.

She was entered in the 1871 and 1881 census of Normanby Twp; Grey County.

Caroline married Philip Schaefer on April 24, 1887 in the village of St. Jacobs in Waterloo County.
Marriage Registration #57855.

She bore her husband 8 children;

3. Clara 1892-1983.
4. Pearl Anna(Beatty) 1894-
