Margie Herbert, 93, of Waco, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014 in Waco. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, October 27, 2014 at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors with Pastor Amos Humphries officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Sunday, October 26th at the funeral home.

Mrs. Herbert was born on April 6, 1921 in Crawford, Texas to James Monroe and Nell (Petree) Baskin. She married George Herbert, Jr. in February 1940 and they celebrated over 36 wonderful years together until his death on July 18, 1976. Mrs. Herbert loved fishing, sewing, crocheting, cooking, playing Yahtzee and 42 but her true love was her family. She was a member of Parklake Drive Baptist Church and was a member of the Gleaners Sunday school class and worked with the Busy Beavers. Mrs. Herbert was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Providence hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers; Billy Gene and Lloyd Baskin, sister-in-law; Gloria Belknap and her husband, Bruce and a nephew; Barry Belknap.

Survivors include her sons; Gary Herbert and his wife, Peggy and George Herbert, daughter; Judy Brister and her husband, Bobby, grandchildren; Kevin Brister, Georgia Brister, Taylor Herbert and his wife, Melissa, Austin Herbert and his wife, Stacy, Jerry Herbert and Janice Stanley, great grandchildren; Landon Stanley, Jacquelyn Stanley, Katelynn Brister, Kamryn Brister, Tyler Herbert, Hunter Herbert, Kaden Herbert and Jacob Herbert and a great-great grandchild; Sydney Stanley, niece; Sheri Sager and nephew; Craig Belknap.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Providence Hospice and Dr. Hodges and his nurse Katrina for the great care and love they gave to their mother. Also a special thanks to Pat and Terri for providing all the great meals.
