Earl E. Marshall died at age 89 on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Herrin Hospital, with his family by his side.
Mr. Marshall was born on Saturday, July 1, 1922, in Murphysboro to Earl & Julia (McRoy) Marshall.
Earl is survived by his wife of 14 years, Alice; children. Vernon & Linda Marshall, Fay & Terry Brown, Kay & Coy Girtman all of Goreville and Gary & Lisa Marshall of Vandalia; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren & sisters, Aline Butcher, Margaret Ragle and Vera Mae Ragle.
Mr. Marshall is preceded in death by his parents, Earl & Julia; 1st wife, Evelyn; grandson, Greg Marshall; brother, Harold Marshall and sisters, Cecil Irvin, Mary Evelyn Shelton and Pauline Ripley.
Earl served as an M.P. in the United States Army during WWII. Earl and his 1st wife Evelyn were married for over 30 years, spending 25 of those years singing Gospel music on WGGH. He was formerly employed as a foreman with ET Simonds Construction Company. He loved farming and working on machinery with his son-in-law, Terry.
