KEYSER,WEST VIRGINIA -- Dorothy B. Evans Niner, 86, formerly of Route 1, Box 189-F, Keyser, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, at the Dawn View Manor Nursing Home, Fort Ashby.
Born on May 14, 1912, at Landes, she was a daughter of the late Charles H. and Mary Rebecca (Judy) Alt. Twice married, she also was preceded in death by both husbands, Arlie R. "Son" Evans, on July 30, 1967, and John A. Niner on May 25, 1993; four brothers, Fred Alt, Homer Alt, Edgar Alt and Russell Alt; and four sisters, Myrtle Yokum, Goldie Simmons, Nellie Mason and Mayme Carskadon.
Mrs. Niner was a retired cook at Fort Ashby High School and was the owner/operator of Evans' Dairy Dip in Fort Ashby. She was a member of the Mineral Baptist Church, Keyser.
Surviving are two daughters, Darlena Hartman, and husband, Don, and Norma Jean Hayes, and husband, Erman "Hoppy," all of Fort Ashby; one son, Richard "Tubby" Evans, and wife, JoAnn, Fort Ashby; one sister, Lela Staggs, Devlin Manor Nursing Home, Cumberland, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Rotruck-Smith Funeral Home, Keyser, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at the Mineral Baptist Church on Sunday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Scott Uhlenhopp and the Rev. Warren Shields officiating. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state one hour prior to the services.
Interment will be in the Mineral Baptist Cemetery, Keyser.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Mineral Baptist Church, Route 1, Box 189-C, Keyser, WV 26726.
