Virginia was born November 19, 1921, the third child of John Schwartze and Elizabeth Volmert Schwartze. Virginia attended Visitation School and was a graduate of Vienna High School, Class of 1942.
Virginia was united in marriage to Otto William Grunwald on November 7, 1942, at the Visitation Church, Vienna, Rev. Blaize Scheffer officiating. Five children were born to this marriage. The family made their home in Concord, CA, since 1960.
To comply with Virginia's request, her body was cremated. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Woodland, CA, on July 27, 2002. The remains were buried in the Most Holy Rosary Parish Cemetery.
Survivors are her children William John (Kathy), Robert Lloyd (Lorraine), Bradley Joseph (Nancy), Carolyn Ann (Patrick) Doyle and Marilyn Joan (Kurt) Davis; nine grandchildren and Eleven great-grandchildren; brother Edwin Schwartze, Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri, and sister Imogene Dyn, St. Peters, Missouri; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
