Lt Col. (Ret) Charles Geesin, 92, of La Varra Drive, Clayton, NC, died June 23, 2012. He was born in Muncie, IN on April 1, 1920 and grew up in Battle Creek, MI. Col Geesin earned his Eagle Scout Award before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1942, serving through the end of World War II. He also served as an US Air Force officer during the Korea and Vietnam conflicts, as well as a SAC pilot who flew the B-29, B-36, and B-47 bombers during the Cold War. He is survived by his wife, Jewel, three children David and wife, Jana, of Vancouver, WA; Patricia Geesin of Lawrenceville, GA; Jeff and wife, Annette, of Doylestown, PA; three step-sons, Harvey Raynor of Fayetteville, NC; Mark Raynor and wife, Linda, of Clayton, NC; and Matthew Raynor and wife, Conny, of Chapel Hill, NC; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Huff, and brother, Raymond Geesin. Col. Geesin was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Heinrich Geesin, two brothers, and one sister. Chuck was a devoted husband, strong father, loving grandfather, and doting great-grandfather who loved his family, and loyally served his country for 28 years. He enjoyed a long full life filled with golf, RV travel, fishing, and playing dominoes and other games with his wife, children, and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2:00 Tuesday June 26, 2012 at First Baptist Church, Clayton with Dr. Mark White officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-7 pm at McLaurin Funeral Home, Clayton.
