Caroline E. Mueller (nee Bremser), 82, a resident of Eagle River, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009, at Eagle River Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 24, 1926, in St. Michael to William and Esther (nee Laubach) Bremser. Caroline married Jerome Schellinger on Dec. 29, 1945, at St. Michael Catholic Church. He preceded her in death. Caroline then married Leo Mueller on July 5, 1974, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford.

Caroline was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Three Lakes. She volunteered her time in the Eagle River Hospital Auxiliary where she worked at the Thrift Store. She was a 30-year resident of Eagle River. She belonged to the Eagle River Homemakers, the Anvil Lake Owners Association, the Daughters of Isabella and the Christian Mothers at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Caroline enjoyed knitting, ceramics, baking her famous chocolate chip cookies and entertaining her family and friends up north at the lake.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Leo; her children, Gwen (Dave) Wilson of Mountain, Jerry (Kathy) Schellinger of Allenton, Chuck Schellinger of West Bend, Judy (Joe) Pieper of West Bend and James (Janet) Schellinger of West Bend; a daughter-in-law, Cherie Schellinger of Theresa; her stepchildren, Christine Fritz (friend David) of New Mexico, Larry (Sandra) Mueller of Slinger, Greg (Erin) Mueller of Thiensville, Mark (Debra) Mueller of Slinger and Ted Mueller of West Bend; 15 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Dorothea Bremser of West Bend, Ruth Schellinger of Hartford, Walberta (Allen) Peil of Slinger and Sr. Antoine Mueller of Campbellsport; brothers-in-law Stanley (Helen) Mueller of Hartford and Leroy Wenninger of Hubertus. She is further survived by her God Children, Susie Peters and Carol Ramthun, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerome Schellinger; a son Mark Schellinger; a daughter-in-law, Marge Schellinger; two brothers, Ambrose and Lloyd Bremser; three sisters, Alice (Aloysius) Volm, Martha (Casper) Lutz and Jeanette (Harold) Narges; her brothers-in-law, Martin (Ann) Mueller, Henry (Caroline) Schellinger and Norbert (Dolores) Schellinger; her sisters-in-law Frieda Wenninger, Marcella (Sylvester) Hefter and Sr. Marie Schellinger O.S.F.

Mass of Christian Burial for Caroline will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009, at 5 p.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Lawrence, with the Rev. Rick Stoffel officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of mass at St. Lawrence Church. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Memorials to the charity of one’s choice appreciated.
