Margaret and John McCoy were married about 1808 in Tennessee. They moved to Brushy Creek and lived in a log house that is still standing but in bad repair.
They had ten children:
Nancy married Willaim Staton,;
Rachel married James Ferguson;
William maried Sarah James;
Andrew married Nancy Justice;
Pleasant married Louvicy Chapman;
Randolph married Elizabeth Sansom
John "Buttermilk," married first Nancy Webb, and after she died, Lizzie Maynard;
Margaret married William Trigg Cline;
Elizabeth "Betty," married Peter Cline;
Asa Peter married Nancy Caroline Sansom, and after her death married Frances Muncy.
John and Margaret died the same day and are buried in a common grave on the cemetery across the creek and on the hill behind their log house. Family lore tells that they had always prayed together and had prayed that they would die together. As the story continues, John died that morning, Margaret helped plan the funeral, and died that night. John and Margaret are buried in a common grave.
