James David McCorkle, age 64, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012.

Danny was born in Macon to the late J.D. McCorkle and Mildred Williamson McCorkle. A veteran of the United States Army, he served in Vietnam where he was the recipient of two Purple Hearts. Danny retired from Armstrong World Industries after 34 years of service. Shortly after his retirement Danny decided he wanted to return to the workforce. He then worked for Lowe's Home Improvement in Milledgeville, gaining many friends in his five years of employment. He was a member of Lake Country Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing whenever time allowed.

Danny is survived by his wife of 39 years, Charlotte McCorkle of Eatonton; sons, Clay McCorkle (Amanda) of Vidalia, and Andrew McCorkle of Eatonton; three brothers, Roland Norman of Byron, Bruce McCorkle of Macon, and Frank McCorkle of Dalton; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 P.M. Wednesday at Crest Lawn.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, June 28, 2012 in the Chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Pastor B. Carlisle Driggers and Chaplain David Gibson, USN will officiate. Interment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675; or to Lake Country Baptist Church, 1259 Crooked Creek Road, Eatonton, Georgia 31024.
